How to use : 4G LTE Feature phones
- Not available to UQ mobile users
This guide describes settings that must be configured on 4G LTE Feature phones for use overseas and how to use these devices.

Confirming Data Charge subscription status
- This step is not applicable to UQ mobile users subscribing the 5G compatible plan.
To use the au Unlimited Data Overseas, you must be subscribed to Data Charge. (Free)

Turn your device's international settings on[1]
(1) Using data communications
- In "モバイルネットワーク(Mobile network)", go to "ネットワークモード(Network mode)" and select "自動(Automatic)".
- Check "データローミング(Data Roaming)".

When subscribed to Data Charge, you will not incur any data communications charges at your travel destination until you push "利用開始(start services)".

■4G LTE Feature phones
設定(Settings) → 8.通信・ネットワーク(Communications and networks) → ネットワーク設定(Network settings) → モバイルネットワーク(Mobile network) → ネットワークモード(Network mode) → 自動(Automatic) → Set "データローミング(Data Roaming)" to ON
* Depending on the model, some menu names and procedure may differ. See the user manual for more information.
* If you are still unable to use even after setting the above, turn the power off and on, and check again.

Select "8. 通信・ネットワーク(Communications and networks)."

Select "ネットワーク設定(Network settings)."

Select "モバイルネットワーク(Mobile network)".

Select "ネットワークモード(Network mode)".

Set "データローミング(Data roaming)" to ON.
<If necessary> Airplane Mode setting
If necessary, set your device to Airplane Mode during your flight.
(2) Making calls and using SMS
- In "モバイルネットワーク(Mobile network)", go to "ネットワークモード(Network mode)" and select "自動(Automatic)".
- Be sure that "データローミング(Data Roaming)" is not checked.

After arriving

From the settings, check that "Data Roaming" is set to on.

Once you have arrived abroad, you be notified via SMS of whether or not you can use the au Unlimited Data Overseas service. This SMS notification is sent free of charge.
By clicking the URL in the SMS notification, your browser is launched and the "start service" screen is displayed.
- No charges incurred for the SMS you receive.
- When subscribed to Data Charge, you will not incur any data communications charges until you push "利用開始(start services)"
- If you are using a device that does not support SMS, such as an iPad, or if you are unable to receive the SMS notification due to signal conditions, please directly launch your browser and enter the URL below. (This URL is for access from overseas only. It cannot be accessed from within Japan.)
Turn Wi-Fi off to display the "start services" screen.

Turn Wi-Fi off to display the "start services" screen.
You should now be able to use.
After returning
Restore the settings for use in Japan
If "自動(Automatic)" is selected for the network mode, you can use the device as-is.
Or, switch the network mode to "日本(Japan) (4G)" to use.

センターキー(Center key) → 設定(Settings) → 8.通信・ネットワーク(Communications and networks) → ネットワーク設定(Network settings) → モバイルネットワーク(Mobile network) → ネットワークモード(Network mode) → 日本(Japan) (4G)
