【au Email Portability】How to apply for the service and set up the email app (iPhone / iPad)

STEP1: Application for the service

【au Email Portability】I would like to apply for the service

You can apply on the page of "au Email Portability" [auメール持ち運び] . Please check the application procedure below.

Important notes

  • When you apply for au Email Portability service, all spam email filter settings will be reset. Please set it again after completing your application

  • Emails sent from the time of au cancellation until the completion of this service application will not be received by the mail server. Sending and receiving emails will resume after the completion of this service application.

Steps

  • 1

    Access the page of  "au Email Portability" [auメール持ち運び] from the iPhone or iPad on which you want to use service.

  • 2

    Scroll up and tap on "New Application" [新規お申し込み].

  • 3

    Enter the au ID of the email address that you are applying for and tap on "Next" [次へ].

    If this screen does not appear, proceed to step 5.

    • If you are not connected to LTE when logging in with your au ID (connected to Wi-Fi), you may need to log in using two-step verification

    Enter your password and tap on "Log In" [ログイン].

    If this screen appears, scroll to the top and tap on "Agree" [同意する].

    If this screen appears, select the email address you wish to apply for au Email Portability and tap on "Proceed" [次へ進む].

    Please check "Agree to the Terms and Conditions" [利用規約に同意する] and tap on "Apply for au Email Portability" [auメール持ち運びに申し込む].

    Next, set up payment with "Easy Payment" [かんたん決済]. Please proceed to the item that matches your situation in STEP2.

STEP2: Setting up au Easy Payment (for UQ mobile or povo2.0 customers)

Please check the steps below to change the method of payment to au Easy Payment.

Steps

    Please tap on "Agree" [同意する].

    • This screen will only appear when you use it for the first time.

    You will receive a text message (SMS), tap to open it.

  • 3

    Check the "verification code" [確認コード] and return to the "Service Usage Confirmation" [ご利用内容の確認] page.

    Enter the "verification code" [確認コード] and tap on "Register" [登録する].

    Next, set up the email app. Proceed to STEP3.

    • For UQ mobile/povo2.0 customers, you can select "Combine with your monthly bill" [通信料合算支払い] , "credit card" [クレジットカード支払い] , and "au PAY Card" [au PAY カード支払い].

STEP2: Setting up au Easy Payment (for those using other companies services)

Please check the steps below to change the method of payment to au Easy Payment.

    Please tap on "Agree" [同意する] .

    • This screen will only appear when you use it for the first time.

    Enter your "customer information" [お客さま情報] and tap on "Set" [設定する].

    • Please register an email address other than au.
  • 3

    Please tap on "Set" [設定する].

    Enter the "verification code" [確認コード] and tap on "Set" [設定する].

  • 5

    Tap on "Next" [次へ].

    • If you proceed to the two-step verification settings screen, tap on "Set up two-step verification" [2段階認証を設定する] → tap on "Set" [設定]→ tap on"OK".

    Enter your credit card number and the security code, and tap on "Register" [登録する].

    Next, set up the email app. Proceed to STEP3.

STEP2: Setting up au Easy Payment (if you do not use any service)

    • This screen will only appear when you use it for the first time.

    Enter your "customer information" [お客さま情報] , and tap on "Set" [設定する].

    • Please register an email address other than au.

    Please tap on "Set" [設定する]

    Enter the "verification code" [確認コード] and tap on "Set" [設定する].

    Please tap on "Next" [次へ] .

    • If you proceed to the two-step verification settings screen, tap on "Set up two-step verification" [2段階認証を設定する] → tap on "Set" [設定]→ tap on"OK".

    Enter your credit card number and the security code, and tap on "Register" [登録する].

    Next, set up the email app. Proceed to STEP3.

STEP3:How to set up the Email app

Steps

  • 1

    Tap on "iPhone default email app" [iPhone 標準メールアプリ].

     

    If you need to reconfigure the email app, log in to the My page of the au Email Portability, tap on "Email App Settings" [メールアプリの設定], and tap on "iPhone default email app" [iPhone 標準メールアプリ].

  • 2

    Tap on "Download Profile" [プロファイルをダウンロードする].

  • 3

    Tap on "Allow" [許可].

  • 4

    Tap on "Close" [閉じる].

  • 5

    Instructions for email settings (steps 1 to 3) will be displayed.

    Return to the home screen.

    From the home screen, tap on "Settings" [設定].

  • 7

    Tap on "Downloaded Profile" [ダウンロード済みのプロファイル].

  • 8

    Tap on "Install" [インストール].

  • 9

    If a passcode is set, please input your passcode on the displayed screen.

    Tap on "Install" [インストール].

    The settings are now completed.

STEP4: How to manually configure email (when setting up a second or subsequent email addresses)

【au Email Portability】when setting up a second or subsequent email addresses(iPhone / iPad)

If you have already applied for au Email portability and would like to set up a second and subsequent email addresses, please set it up manually.

  • Because if you do automatic settings (profile download), the settings would be overwritten.

Important note

  • Please use Safari as your browser. If you use other browsers, it may not be possible to install the profile.

Steps

  • 1

    On the au Email portability application completion screen, tap on "Confirm ID and password required for email setting" [メール設定に必要な・ID パスワードを確認する].

     

    Or, after logging in to the My page of au Email portability, tap on "Mail App Settings" [メールアプリの設定] and then tap on "Check ID and password needed for mail setting" [メール設定に必要な ID・パスワードを確認する].

    Take note of the following information required for manual configuration of Email setting information.

    After noting down, return to the home screen.

    • Necessary information: Username [ユーザー名], "password" [パスワード], "IMAP server" [IMAPサーバ], "SMTP server" [SMTPサーバ]

    From the home screen, tap on "Settings" [設定].

    Tap on "Mail" [メール].

  • 5

    Tap on "Account" [アカウント]

    Tap on "Others" [その他].

    Tap on "Add Account"[アカウントを追加].

    Enter your name (any name), the email address you want to register, and the password noted in step 2. 

    • Enter "Description" [説明] as necessary.

    Select the "IMAP" tab and enter the required items (the items noted in step 2).

    1. "IMAP Server" [IMAP サーバ]

    2. "Username" [ユーザー名]

    3. "Password" [パスワード]

    4. "SMTP Server" [SMTP サーバ]
    • The username and password are the same for both the incoming and the outgoing mail server.

    Tap on "Save" [保存].

  • 11

    The setting is now completed.
