I want to reset my au ID password (I do not know my current au ID password)

Please reset your au ID password according to the service you are using.

Important notes

  • To reset the au ID password for au/UQ mobile smartphones, tablet and iPad, please turn off Wi-Fi and perform the operation from the respective device.

  • It is not possible to reset the password from a PC.

Differences between 4-digit PIN code, au ID and au ID password

The 4-digit PIN code and au ID password are different things.

  • 4-digit PIN code: Number set by the customer at the time of new contract for a smartphone or tablet, etc.
  • au ID: This is an ID provided by KDDI that allows you to use various services conveniently with only one ID. The default au ID is your mobile phone number.

  • au ID password: This is set by the customer when setting up of the smartphone for the first time.

    It combines half-width alphanumeric characters (symbols are allowed) and it is set to more than 8 digits (e.g., 1234abcd).

For those who have fixed-line service contracts

  • For contracts made after February 2015

    Please check your initial au ID and password in the "Usage starting notice" [ご利用開始のご案内] sent to you when you signed up.

  • For contracts made between May 2014 and January 2015

    Please check the initial au ID and password at "Important notice regarding au ID and related services" [au ID 及び 関連サービスに関する大切なお知らせ].

Steps

    Tap on the link below to access the au ID password reset page. 

    • You can also reset it through "Forgot your password?" [パスワードを忘れた方はこちら], even during the login process in the app.

    Enter your au ID and tap on "Next" [次へ].

  • 3

    Enter your 4-digit PIN code and tap on "Next" [次へ].

  • 4

    Enter your new password and tap on "Agree to the terms of service and reset" [利用規約に同意して再設定する].

    • You can use half-width alphanumeric characters and symbols for the password. Please set it between 8 to 32 characters including both half-width alphabets and numbers.

    • If a confirmation code input screen is displayed,Enter the received 6-digit confirmation code and tap on"Next" [次へ].

    Once "Password reset completed" [パスワードの再設定が完了しました] is displayed, the process is finished.
